About The La Center Music Association

The La Center Music Association was formed in 1984 by a dedicated group of
parents.  Their goal was to help provide equipment, uniforms and money for trips to
music festivals and performance opportunities, primarily at the high school level
through fund raising.  The La Center School District enrollment increased along with
the needs in our music departments.  In 2004 it was decided to expand efforts to
support the La Center Middle and Elementary Schools.  This move challenged the La
Center Music Association to increase fund raising and actively seek more volunteers.

The primary fund raising activity is the annual Holiday Bazaar at the LC Middle
School, the first Saturday in December.  We are reviewing additional opportunities to
fund raise and increase support the music and performing arts in La Center.  
Donations are always accepted!  Past equipment purchases have been tubas and a
keyboard for the MS Band, a drum kit for the MS Choir, a xylophone and vocal sound
system for the Elementary.  

 

In partnership with the Constance Cerveny Foundation,
the LCMA offers two $2,500 scholarships to Seniors continuing their music education. The

$1,000 McNeal Scholarship is also awarded to a deserving Senior to help fund their

continuing music education. Each year the LCMA has awarded four $200 scholarships to

current LCMS and LCHS music students to use for music lessons or music camp. Our goal in 2023-24 is to award four $250 scholarships to LCMS music students and four $500 scholarships to LCHS students. 

As our community grows, so do the needs of our music teachers and programs.  The
La Center Music Association is committed to continue our support of the school directors'
needs in the classroom.  We encourage and invite you to be a part of this hardworking
and dedicated group!  We are grateful for the parents and community members who
